Annelore Elisabeth Gertrude Rudolph Lehr

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Annelore Elisabeth Gertrude Rudolph Lehr, 75, passed away on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Saratoga Hospital after a brief and courageous battle against cancer. Born on June 14, 1941 in Penzig, Germany, she was the only child of the late Martin and Elisabeth (Tschierschke) Rudolph. She and her parents moved to Duren, Germany in 1946 where she met and married the love of her life, Russell, in 1962. After being relocated by the Air Force many times, both stateside and abroad, the couple settled in Saratoga Springs in 1978. Known as Anne to her many American friends, she never lost her accent or her love of Germany, though she did become a U.S. citizen in 2004. Annelore had an immense capacity for love, and for the wonder of the natural world. She would excitedly report on each new bird species or wildflower she saw. Throughout her life she made use of skills she learned, even as a child, to turn natural objects into art. Working timelessly to make those around her happy, she always enjoyed her family and many friends, good food and laughter. Survivors include her husband of fifty-four years, Russel Lehr of Saratoga Springs; her daughter Tanja (Joe) deMauro and their son Seamus of Franklin; son Jason (Lindsey) Lehr of Scotia, cousins Peter (Heidi) Tschierschke of Berlin, Germany, Wilfried (Anita)Tschierschke of Altdorf, Germany and Rosalie Walke of Rheine, Germany. All are heartbroken by her loss. At Annelore’s request, there will be no services held. She asked that her family and friends hold her memory dear and close, loving one another always. Many thanks to the caring and kind nursing and medical staff at Saratoga Hospital. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Saratoga County, 50 West High St. #1, Ballston Spa, NY 12020 for the 4-H Training Center. Arrangements are under the direction of the William J. Burke & Sons/Bussing & Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs (584-5373). Online remembrances may be made at www.burkefuneral home.com.
