Elizabeth Ann (Lewis) Meers
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Elizabeth Ann (Lewis) Meers, a lifelong resident of the area, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2016 following a long illness.
Born May 24, 1936 in Rock City Falls, she was the daughter of the late Alice (Reed) Lewis.
Elizabeth was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Greenfield Center. She spent many years volunteering with the local little league and cub scouts and girl scouts of Schuylerville. She enjoyed her career working at The Carl Company, where she was twice selected as Employee of the Year. Her favorite activities included competing in her women's bowling league at Hi-Roc Lanes, researching family history, and participating in family reunions.
Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Edward Meers, three children; Jeffrey Meers (wife Flo), Carol Meers, and Kevin Meers, two grandchildren; Amanda Malinoski and Jill Redznak (husband Alex), two great-grandchildren; Alexandra Aratare and Aiden Aratare, five sisters; Mary Lewis Cullen (husband Glenn), Helen Lewis Ryle, Cynthia Lewis Hubbert (husband James), Linda Lewis Whiting and Ruth Lewis, one brother James Lewis, and many nieces and nephews.
Elizabeth is predeceased by brothers Frank Lewis, Fred Lewis, Warren Lewis, John Lewis, Edward Lewis and Ralph Lewis, and sister Celia Lewis Haynes.
Relatives and friends gathered in her name on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the William J. Burke and Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes, 628 North Broadway in Saratoga Springs.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, September 7 in the historic Church of St. Peter, 241 Broadway in Saratoga Springs by the Rev. Thomas H. Chevalier, pastor. Burial followed in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Elizabeth’s name to The Lupus Foundation of America.
