Dawn Elizabeth (Greenwalt) Teal

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Dawn Elizabeth (Greenwalt) Teal, 67 entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Saratoga Hospital after a long illness, but courageous battle with her family by her side. Dawn was born in Glens Falls. She was the daughter of Ida Mae Winslow of Schuylerville and the late Hector Rudy Greenwalt of Schuylerville. She was also predeceased by her husband Robert Teal in 2011. Dawn, known as “Greenie” to her classmates, graduated from Schuylerville Central School in the Class of 1967. She went to nursing school at the Mary McClellen School of Practical Nursing, graduating in 1969 with her LPN. Dawn attended SCCC in 1974, ACC in 1975 and HVCC in 1987. She studied courses pertaining to alcohol and drug abuse and in 1988 she did field training for alcohol and drug abuse at SPARC in Cohoes. Dawn worked at Saratoga Hospital’s maternity ward for 20 years and Leonard Hospital as a detox nurse. She retired in 2009. Survivors include her sisters, Donna Liptak of Schuylerville and Ida Mae Adams of Salem; daughters, Carrie (Shaw) Oliver of Saratoga Springs, Tara Shaw (Eric Engleman) of Saratoga Springs, Jessica (Suttle) George of Glens Falls, Melissa (Suttle) Garmley of Saratoga Springs; step-daughters, Colleen Conti (Dave) of Schenectady; step-son, Robert E. Teal, Jr. of Slingerlands; grandchildren Jaime Oliver of Illinois, Dalton and Riley Oliver of Saratoga Springs, Lauren and Aidan Conti of Schenectady, Jeremy Jr. and Kayleigh Garmley of Saratoga Springs and several nieces and nephews. Dawn loved spending time with her family and friends. She was a faithful member of Living Waters Church of God in Gansevoort. Dawn had a contagious smile and a wonderfully unique sense of humor. Dawn’s life will be celebrated from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday September 10, 2016 at the Gurtler Brothers VFW Post 420, 190 Excelsior Ave., Saratoga Springs. The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude to Dr. DeVito and his staff at Capital Region Otolaryngology Head and Neck Group, Dr. Lisa Galati MD, Daniel Kayajian SLP-D, Dr. Edward Liebers MD and their staff at Saratoga Oncology, the doctors, physician assistants, staff at Saratoga Hospital, Dr. Lance Hellman MD and the staff at the Saratoga Hospital Radiation Oncology Center, Dr. Taylor MD and the staff at Glens Falls Hospital for their care and kindness the gave to Dawn and her family.
