SARATOGA SPRINGS — The New York Racing Association hosted a daylong tribute and fundraiser for Ukraine at Saratoga Race Course on Aug. 24.
The day marked the 1991 anniversary of Ukraine’s declared independence from the former Soviet Union, as well as the six-month anniversary of Russia’s invasion.
Members of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America distributed flyers and stickers and accepted donations at the racecourse admission gates, the Ukrainian flag was flown above the infield, and performances by Ukrainian-American singers and dancers were staged on the track apron during the day.
