Wilton, NY - Charles Reid McCrossan, 86, formerly of Norwood, MA, passed away peacefully November 14, 2011.
Born in Somerville, MA, he was the son of the late Dr. Charles and Alice (Reid) McCrossan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Cullinane) and sister, Margaret Benson.
Charles was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a graduate of Tufts University, '49. He was employed for 38 years as an Analytic Chemist for the National Research Corporation in Cambridge and Newton, MA. A talented musician, Charles played the piano, trombone, and euphonium. He was a member of the St. Timothy Choir in Norwood, MA, for over 25 years. Throughout his life he was an active member of many musical groups, including the Tufts University Concert Band, the Wellesley (MA) Symphony, the Neponset Choral Society, the Concord (MA) Symphony, the Mattapoisett (MA) Regional Symphonic Band, the Norwood (MA) Musicians Union, the Saratoga Springs Union Band, and his most recent association as a proud charter member of the Ballston Spa Community Band.
Charles was the loving father of Francis (Patricia) of Cambridge, MA, Stephen (Kathleen) of Medfield, MA, and Mia (Gregory) Pfitzer. And the cherished grandfather of Meaghan, Matthew, Patrick Mary Beth, Daniel, Caroline and Gregory McCrossan and Michael and Sally Pfitzer. He also leaves his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Paul, Vera and Barbara Cullinane and nephews, Paul and Christopher Cullinane.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011, at St. Clement's Church, 231 Lake Ave. by the Rev. Timothy F. Keating, C.Ss.R.
