Samuel J. D'Onofrio
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Samuel J. D'Onofrio passed away suddenly in his sleep on August 25, 2016. He is leaving behind his "Beauty," as he affectionately called his wife of 42 years, Karen, along with family, friends and customers.
Sammy was born on March 19, 1952 in Schenectady, and grew up in Ballston Lake. He graduated in 1970 from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School. In his teen years he worked at Rocky's IGA and in the paint shop at Montgomery Wards. In 1971 he began what would be his 45-year life-long career with NYTECH Supply. He started as a route sales driver, then sales manager, then back to route salesman. He loved the field of sales; it was in his blood.
He was known as "Sammy the Bull" and was famous for arm wrestling for a sale. He touched so many lives in so many ways, believing that everyone that he met was "the best!" He truly was a special gift. Words cannot describe how much he was beloved by all and how much he will be missed.
Sammy was also well known for his faith and love of his God, Jehovah. He was a devout Jehovah's Witness. He always carried a pocket Bible and took every opportunity to share something spiritual. We are comforted by the fact that he is in Jehovah's memory and look forward to seeing him again.
Of course it wouldn't be complete to not mention his love of classic cars and exquisite time pieces.
He is survived by his wife Karen his daughter, Laura (and son-in-law, Paul) his son, Mitchell (and daughter-in-law, Tiasha). And of course the second apple of his eye, his beloved grandchildren, Aliyah, Payton, Brooke, Prada, Gianni and Rocco. And his sister, Karen Makley and many beloved brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Saratoga Springs on Monday, August 29 p.m.
