Jeanne VanCour

SARATOGA SPRINGS – Jeanne VanCour, 92, of Saratoga Springs, formerly of Tupper Lake and Ocala, FL, passed on to her eternal reward on Thursday, July 21, surrounded by family. Jeanne was born on the family farm in Lancaster, Ontario to parents Winifred (Leroux) and Aristide Decoeur and raised in Tupper Lake. A graduate of Holy Ghost Academy and Central City Business Institute in Syracuse, Jeanne married Joseph Victor Real (Ray) Chretien in 1949 and resided in Tupper Lake. Later, she married Paul VanCour and they lived in Ocala, Florida until 1994 when they moved to Saratoga Springs. A very active person, Jeanne excelled at everything she did, especially her culinary and hosting skills. She loved to entertain company and her door was open to everyone. Jeanne made many long-lasting friendships wherever she lived. Predeceased by parents and spouses, Jeanne is survived by three sons, Thomas (Margaret) Chretien, Gerry (Carol) Chretien and Paul (Julie) Chretien; three grandchildren, Chad Chretien, Stacy (Billy) Wilson and Corrie (Anthony) Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Morgyn Britt, Alexis (Nick Glasgow) Britt, Isaak Britt and Natalie Wilson; one great-great-granddaughter, Aleigha Glasgow; one brother, Gerald (Gloria) Decoeur, of Syracuse, and many nieces, nephews and cousins in the USA and Canada. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement’s Church, 231 Lake Avenue, Saratoga Springs on Monday, August 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Tupper Lake. A memorial service will be held in Tupper Lake at the convenience of the family. The family requests that any memorial donations be given to The Wesley Health Care Center, Inc., 131 Lawrence Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866, or to the St. Clement’s Parish where Jeanne was a Eucharistic Minister. Those who wish to send flowers can advise their florist that arrangements are under the direction of William J. Burke and Sons/Bussing and Cunniff Funeral Homes of 628 North Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866.
