Brenda Gail Adams

GLENVILLE — Brenda (Jet) Gail Adams, 54, passed away Jan. 10 at home surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Brenda battled cancer in the same manner she lived life, with a positive attitude, perseverance, humor and determination to win always.

Born on Feb. 5, 1960 to Seth and Charlotte Adams, she was a lifetime resident of Schenectady and worked as a physical education teacher and coach at Saratoga Springs High School for 28 years.

Brenda is survived by her loving spouse and partner of 25 years, Beth Bassett; twin brother, Clark Adams (Janice); her cherished nephews Seth, Kyle, Conner Adams; her extended Bassett and Chapin families; and her special canine girls Lucy, Lexi and Loki who were by her side throughout.

In addition, Brenda will be missed by her close family of friends, Michele, Colleen, Sue, Beth, Karen, Beth, Kathy, Donna, Rayette and Laurie.

She is further survived by aunts, cousins and many friends.

Brenda was passionate, enthusiastic, caring, respected, accomplished and a beloved teacher/coach/mentor for 28 years at Saratoga Springs High School. Her leadership and motivational style impacted so many lives of students, faculty and everyone she came in contact with. Brenda’s personality was contagious! She leaves an enduring legacy of the profound impact she had on her student’s lives.

She was a 1978 graduate of Mont Pleasant High School before going on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport in 1982. She went on to get a Masters in Health Education from Russell Sage College.

Brenda dedicated her life to family, friends and career. Her love of life and perseverance led her to be a successful teacher and coach in numerous sports (softball, basketball, golf, volleyball, field hockey and bowling).

Coach Adams’ drive for success led many of her teams to championship seasons. Brenda was the recipient of Section II Coach of the Year (Golf). Brenda’s competitive spirit extended beyond coaching to recreational golf, resulting in twice being the low-net Champion of the Gazette Women’s Open and a hole in one as a member of the Ballston Spa Country Club.

She lived life to the fullest, enjoying the slots at the Racino, scratch-offs and any sports pool available, cold beer at her pool and a scotch or wine before dinner.

The family would like to thank Barb and Ann at St Peter’s Cancer Care Center for all of the special care provided. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Homeward Bound Dog Rescue New York, LTD PO Box 5782, Albany, NY 12205; Hospice 295 Valley View Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144; First Reformed Church, First Reformed Church 224 North Ballston Ave, Scotia, NY 12302.
