SARATOGA SPRINGS – Judith S. Mossman, 83, passed away Monday, September 9 at Wesley Health Care Center.
Born on November 26, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Sylvan and Sara Schwarz.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Mossman; sister, Francis Sattenspiel and brother, Lewis Schwarz; her children Margery Chessare, Ralph, Kenneth, and Ellen Mossman; five grandsons, Geoffrey, Daniel, Michael, Christopher and Cai; two great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Judy grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, graduating from Columbia High School in 1944. She then attended Skidmore College, majoring in English and graduating in the class of 1952. She and Allen, who was an administrator for a chemical company, married on July 20, 1952. They resided in Verona, New Jersey and moved to Saratoga Springs in August of 1991.
She volunteered part of her time as a librarian in the Verona High School, but the high point of her life was raising her four children. Together they travelled extensively during their married life, and in many cases took their children with them. After moving to Saratoga Springs, two of her children and families moved to the Saratoga Springs area; Margery Chessare in Greenfield Center, and Kenneth Mossman in Wilton. Judy will be remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor, and love of music and theater.
