Cars for a Cause: Classic Car Show Raises Money for Scholarships
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Classic builds and vibrant colors returned to Saratoga Springs High School (SSHS) this past weekend for the third annual Saratoga Classic Car Show, held on April 30.
Hosted by former SSHS business teacher and classic car enthusiast John Grady, each year the show raises money for the SSHS scholarship fund. The fund provides graduating seniors with $15,000-$20,000 each year. According to Grady, the show raised $750 for the fund in its first year, and $1,000 in the second. Some of the cars at this year’s show included a 1976 Corvette Stingray belonging to Ron Delaney, a 1970 Volkswagen Baja Beetle belonging to Wendy Davis, a 1948 Austin A40 Devon belonging to Dave Insognia, and many others.

SSHS Baseball Seniors Honored
SARATOGA SPRINGS – Senior Blue Streak baseball players, along with friends and family take the field for Senior Night at East Side Rec. on Saturday, May 14. Everyone celebrated as Saratoga romped over Schuylerville, 22-2 in their last regular season home game - closing out the season with four straight wins, and five of their last six, heading into the post-season vs. Niskayuna on Tuesday, May 17.

In that opening round contest, Saratoga, seeded sixth, was victorious over #11 Niskayuna, 5-0, and squared off versus #3 Ballston Spa on Thursday evening.

What’s Happening at the Saratoga Race Track
SARATOGA SPRINGS — Saturday, August 10: Fourstardave Handicap: The day’s feature race is the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap for 3-year-olds and up at a mile on the inner turf. This year’s edition is expected to include 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan, winner of eight of his previous nine starts, and will be broadcast on NBC as part of the network’s “Summer at Saratoga” series.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Saratoga Race Course giveaway prize of the replica of the race track is being replaced with the iconic baseball cap.

SARATOGA SPRINGS — To commemorate the Saratoga 150-year celebration, The Jockey Club Safety Net Foundation is selling a scarf depicting the recently unveiled Hoofprints Walk of Fame at Saratoga Race Course.
