Heritage Hunters of Saratoga County

“He Came to Work: The Story of an Irish Immigrant in Saratoga County” will be presented by Lauren Roberts, Saratoga County Historian. Using county records, Lauren will follow the life of an early 20th Century Irish immigrant and his family. A Purple Tie Affair
The National Museum of Dance, 99 South Broadway, Saratoga Springs, 7 p.m.
A benefit to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS), A Purple Tie Affair also promotes involvement in Team in Training (TNT), an athletic endurance program where athletes raise money for LLS in exchange for coaching necessary to complete half marathons, marathons, triathlons and century rides. Athletes train and compete in honor of someone battling cancer, or in memory of someone that’s lost their battle with cancer.

Emmy-nominated, PBS documentary, “Traces of the Trade: A Story from the Deep North”. Mr. James DeWolf Perry, executive director of Boston-based Tracing Center on Histories and Legacies of Slavery and the film’s principal historical consultant, will lead a Q&A after the film, followed by a dessert reception. The events on Sunday and Monday organized by the MLK Planning Committee is supported by a broad collation of interfaith communities, foundation and corporate donors, and local social agencies. This year’s theme will be “The Unfinished Business of Martin Luther King, Jr. James DeWolf Perry will be the keynote speaker and discussion leader on the theme of “The Unfinished Business of Martin Luther King, Jr.” Excerpts of the film, ”Traces of the Trade” will be shown and there will be dramatic performances by SHYFT, Saratoga’s Humanitarian Youth For Transformation, and music by Kim & Reggie Harris.
