Local Gymnast Ava Dallas Wins NYS Championship

BALLSTON SPA – Ava Dallas, age 13 of Wilton, won USA Gymnastics’ New York State Level 7 all-around championship in the Senior A Division, at the state gymnastics meet held at Rockland Community College in Suffern on April 1­ 3. Dallas won the title with an all-around score of 37.375.  

 

Dallas also won individual titles on the floor exercise (9.575), the vault (9.55) and the balance beam (9.2). With the win, Dallas will represent New York State at the upcoming USA Gymnastics Regional Competition being held in Northborough, MASS on April 16-17.

 

Dallas competes for Stepping Star Gymnastics, located at 40 South Street, Ballston Spa.

This is Ava’s first year competing for Stepping Star in USA Gymnastics-sanctioned events.  Previously, Ava competed for the Saratoga Regional YMCA ‘Springettes’; and is a prior YMCA Level 4 New York State, Northeast Region, and National Champion.

 

Overall, Stepping Star Gymnastics had a strong showing at the New York State meet.  Juliana Winslow, age 9 of Greenfield Center, finished fifth all-round (36.850) in the Level 7 Child A Division.  Juliana won an individual title on the vault (9.425) and also qualified to represent New York State at the upcoming Regional Competition.  Tessa Pierce, age 12 of Middle Grove, placed eighth overall (36.175) in the Level 7 Junior D Division and won an individual title on the floor exercise (9.550). Sophia Damiano, age 12 of Saratoga Springs, placed sixth overall (36.375) in the Level 7 Junior B Division.
