“It’s all about the basics. A mastery of the basics will allow you to perform the more advanced movements.” That’s what Emma Gowen, a freshman at Saratoga Springs High School, told Saratoga TODAY on what makes someone great at ballet.
Emma started her performative dance journey when she was just four years old. Now, after 11 years of taking classes and performing regularly, Emma has booked a ticket to Philadelphia to attend the Rock School for Dance Education Summer Ballet - one of the nation’s leading pre-professional training programs. “It’s really exciting,” Emma told TODAY “I can’t wait.”
If you’d like to catch Emma and the Saratoga Springs Youth Ballet before she departs, she and her classmates will be performing at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sunday, June 5, during the Festival of Young Artists.
