BALLSTON SPA — Ana Gold, a junior at Ballston Spa High School, has recently committed to play shortstop for Duke University’s softball team.
Gold has played softball for as long as she can remember. After years of practicing and training on and off the softball field, her lifelong dedication to the sport is progressing into a collegiate athletic career. This past summer Gold participated in a softball camp at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina where she first became acquainted with the university. After a recent unofficial visit to the campus with her family, Gold decided to commit to becoming a future Blue Devil (Duke’s mascot).
"The past few years I’ve just been looking around at different schools and Duke felt like the school that was right for me and setting me up for my future,” said Gold. “I just love the atmosphere and the coaching staff and just what they're all about."
While Gold has two more seasons to play softball at Ballston Spa High School, she already has her mindset on giving her future team her best athleticism.
“I'm going to compete, to work as hard as I can to hopefully be able to start my first few years of being there," said Gold.
