Alfred J. Arsenault

SCHUYLERVILLE – Alfred J. Arsenault, 63, a former resident of Schuylerville, died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Hudson Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Menands, NY surrounded by his family. Born November 21, 1952, in New Jersey, he moved to Schuylerville as an infant and attended Schuylerville Central School. He was the son of the late Joseph and Elva Arsenault. Fred was a friend to everyone he met and particularly enjoyed spending time with his friends downtown, where he was affectionately known as "the Mayor of Broadway." His great love of family, music, good food and his beloved Prince Edward Island were the pleasures that made him happiest. He was a communicant of Notre Dame-Visitation Church. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, brother-in-law James Martin, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Survivors include four sisters, Thelma (James) Hack, Jeannette Martin, Leona (Whitney) Colvin, and Rose (Frank Smith) Arsenault; two brothers, Henri (Sheila) Arsenault and Paul (Sandra) Arsenault; six nieces and nephews, Judy Ahern, Derek Norton, Crystal Kulpa, Sarah Ray, Brent Arsenault and Kurt Arsenault; several great-nieces and great-nephews; his aunts Claudia Arsenault, Freda Poirier, Lucie (Olaf) MacDonald, Rita Conway and Rosie Arsenault; and many cousins throughout the United States and Canada. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday, November 11, 2016 at Flynn Bros. Inc. Funeral Home, 13 Gates Ave., Schuylerville, with Rev. Martin Fisher, officiating (due to the church renovations). Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 9-11 a.m. prior to the funeral. Memorials can be made in his memory to the charity of one's choice. Fred's family would especially like to thank all those people who befriended Fred over the years and formed the circle of love that kept him smiling. The campaign began on Friday, March 15, and continued until Sunday, March 17.
