The sentences are to run concurrently. The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office and the State Police had conducted an investigation into Ahern’s disappearance, which occurred in January 2019, and “determined Ahern was likely the victim of foul play,” according to a statement released by the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office. Ahern had lived in Stillwater with Jeffers at the time of Ahern’s disappearance. In March 2019, Jeffers was involved in a property accident in the town of Saratoga and was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun – which investigators determined Jeffers had used to kill Ahern.
