Clarification: Wilton's "Deficit"

WILTON – In the October 14 edition of Saratoga TODAY, we ran an article titled, “$800K in The Hole,” addressing comments made at the October Wilton Town Board meeting about an approximately $800,000 deficit facing the town.  Since the article’s publication, a few points have come to light that we here at Saratoga TODAY believe deserve some clarification.

Wilton Denies Food Pantry Budget

WILTON – After reviewing the preliminary budget proposed by Wilton Town Supervisor Arthur Johnson, the town board voted 3-2 to eliminate $5,000 in funding for the newly formed Wilton Food Pantry (WFP), prompting WFP Board Member Dennis Towers to speak out during the Thursday, November 10 town board meeting.

Saratoga County Honors Veterans of the Year

SARATOGA SPRINGS - On Saturday, November 12, three World War II veterans will be honored as New York State Veterans of the Year during a ceremony at the New York State Military Museum, 61 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. and the public is welcome to attend. The three men being honored, Dante James Orsini, Floyd J. Dumas and David W. Sexton, are all 91 years old.

SARATOGA SPRINGS - By capturing two out of the three contested city elections, Democrats will have a majority of the seats (3-2) on the next Saratoga Springs City Council which will be sworn into office next January 1. This will put the Democrats in the majority of the council for the first time since Valerie Keehn was elected mayor of the city in 2006.

  • New York State Police The New York State Police announced that it issued 5,576 tickets during this year’s St. Patrick’s Day enforcement initiative. The campaign began on Friday, March 15, and continued until Sunday, March 17. During the campaign, funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, State Police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and underage drinking and sales to minors detail. State Police also ticketed distracted drivers who use handheld electronic devices.
