Fatal Accidents Mar Travers Weekend

By Staff Report | News

SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga Springs Police Department was kept busy this past weekend with two fatal accidents – one on Friday at the beginning of the weekend and another Sunday night.

The first accident killed 20-year-old Justin Matthew Price of Clifton Park.

Price was riding his bicycle east on Route 29 when he was struck by a tractor trailer, also travelling east. The accident occurred just east of Weibel Avenue.

According to Price’s obituary, an unknown nurse came upon the accident scene and stayed with Price until he was transported to Albany Medical Center where he died later that evening.

Price was a hot walker at the Saratoga Flat Track.

Police say they do not believe speed or alcohol to be a factor in the accident and no charges have been filed against the unidentified truck driver.

In the second accident, a SUV collided with two motorcyclists at the intersection of Spa State Park on Route 9.

The driver of one of the motorcycles was seriously injured and transported to Saratoga Hospital where the victim was pronounced dead.

The driver and passenger of the second motorcycle were transported to Albany Medical Center with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the SUV was transported to Saratoga Hospital, also with non-life threatening injuries.

Lt. John Catone of the Saratoga Springs Police Department said there is still an ongoing investigation into both accidents.

“The accident investigation is continuing and no further information will be available until late in the day [on Monday,” said Lt. Catone. “We are also not releasing names of those involved pending family notifications.”
