Amello and Kling to Particpate in Travers Preview

SARATOGA SPRINGS — Veteran handicappers Tom Amello and Nick Kling, longtime co-hosts of “Trackfacts Live” on the Capital OTB television network, will participate in a Travers Stakes preview discussion at the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame on Thursday, August 22 at 10:30 a.m. The program is free and open to the public and will feature video of key races leading up to the Midsummer Derby as well as a question-and-answer session with the panelists.

Amello has produced the “Trackfacts” selection sheet at Saratoga Race Course since 1989. He also served as an on-air host at Capital OTB for more than 20 years. Amello developed a TV version of “Trackfacts” for Capital OTB and also co-hosted a second program for the network, “Trackfacts Live,” that was an audience-driven program.

Kling, who co-hosted “Trackfacts Live” with Amello, is a public handicapper and columnist. He has been the lead handicapper at The Record since 1998 and has written for Post Time USA, Horseplayer magazine and Wizard Productions.

The program will feature Travers Stakes trivia for prizes from Embrace the Race and the Museum’s gift shop.

The 144th running of the Travers is Saturday, Aug. 24 at Saratoga Race Course. The race is expected to feature Kentucky Derby winner Orb, Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice and Haskell Invitational winner Verrazano, among others.

Henderson, 47, of Fort Edward, was sentenced on Nov. 28 to 8 years’ incarceration and 3 years’ post-release supervision, following his conviction of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third-degree. Henderson was arrested in connection with drug-dealing activities that took place March 2023 in Halfmoon, Saratoga County District Attorney Karen Heggen said, in a statement.
