SARATOGA COUNTY — On Wednesday, Aug. 31, Saratoga Hospital, the Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department, & Healing Springs Recovery Community & Outreach Center are partnering in a county-wide NARCAN Training Day.
There will be 18 participating locations including two mobile units that will cover the Northern & Southern regions of the County. The event is open to the public.
Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. It is often given as a nasal spray.
Naloxone quickly reverses an overdose by blocking the effects of opioids. It can restore normal breathing within 2 to 3 minutes in a person whose breath has slowed, or even stopped, as a result of opioid overdose, according to the CDC.
